DANY CAPAR IN STATE OF GRACE

‘He's really going strong at the moment’ - these words from Alessandro Gocciadoro about Dany Capar are enough to summarise the 1600 metres of a truly spectacular Grand Prix Côte d'Azur, which has lived up to its new role as a race on the elite UET circuit. The driver in yellow, with Vernissage Grif, had attempted the winning move, after a start that had seen him boxed in the middle of the group, and as he passed in front of the stands with a jump in the middle of the track he had managed to overtake all his rivals and take the lead, an effort that he will probably pay for in the final stages. A stoic Chance Ek remained confined further back without managing to get too close to the first two and so halfway around the final bend Gabriele Gelormini in the sulky with Dany Capar moved to the outside and gradually overtook Vernissage and then defended himself in the last few metres from the attack of Always Ek and Chance Ek who finished in order, just ahead of Dimitri Ferm and Vernissage himself in the sulky, who in the final stretch perhaps had to settle for second place to avoid the risk of breaking down at the finish line. 1.10.9 was the time per km and therefore equalled the race record set by Vernissage Grif in 2022. The first three were awarded a wild card for the Lotteria di Agnano on the prize-giving stage
‘He was a bit tired,’ said Gocciadoro about Vernissage, ’but he raced well and I'm satisfied. We expect him to be 100% fit in a month's time in Naples, for the Lotteria.
For Dany Capar, a gelding and son of Exploit Caf, the confirmation of having reached maturity with the passage of age is in fact that Turin is the third Group 1 won since November, whereas previously the Leonardo Cecchi rider had never placed in a grand prix.
