HORSERACING MAY SHED ITS SKIN THANKS TO IMMERSIVE REALITY

Andrea Guidot, founder and president of TRAMA, a creative studio specialising in interactive and immersive solutions, presented a project, the only one of its kind in the world, that will revolutionise the relationship between man and horse.
Andrea, what does this project involve?
It's a project we presented at the Verona Horse Fair last November, in collaboration with M.Art Technology owned by Erika Tessarolo – who owns the hardware and mechanical equipment – and with MASAF, created for training and entertainment in the world of horse racing. It is a prototype of a mechanical horse, synchronisable with the content projected in immersive rooms and in viewers, created at 360° by our company during a real horse racing competition.
Is it a simulator?
It can simulate the movements of various horse racing disciplines – gallop, monté races, dressage – thanks to sensors that can evaluate the accuracy of the movements and the correct posture in the saddle. In case of an error, the trot of the horse slows down; if the movement is performed correctly, the speed increases.
How will the images be visible?
Through visors that offer an immersive and realistic experience, giving the clear sensation of riding a real horse.
Who will use it?
The simulator can be used both by those who want to approach horse racing disciplines or overcome their fear of riding, and by professionals who need an advanced training tool.
What will be the objective?
To create perfect synchronisation between the movement of the mechanical horse and the immersive images, in order to offer a realistic and engaging experience, both for professional training and for the entertainment of an audience of all ages.
What about the completion time?
We are waiting for directives from the Ministry to proceed with the work.
Is horse racing changing?
Partly, yes. It's an initiative that integrates technological innovation in the sector, while maintaining a strong link with tradition.
