THE LOSS OF STEFAN HULTMAN

Stefan Hultman, who died on Saturday at the age of 61 from a serious form of neuropathy (a disease that affects the nervous system), was remembered and celebrated throughout Europe. In Italy he is known for having been the mentor of great horses such as Maharajah, with whom he won the 2014 America's Cup and who is still one of the leading stallions in Italian trotting, but also From Above, with whom he won an Elitloppet in 2003 beating Victory Tilly, or Naglo, just to name a few. In total, between 2011 and 2015, at the peak of his career, he won something like 30 Group 1 races with his horses. He has won over 1100 races as a trainer. Many tributes have been paid by his colleagues, from Orjan Kihlstrom to Johan Unterstaner and many others.
