Thanks to Handle With Care, a thoroughbred trained by Marco Botti, on Monday at Lingfield the English jockey Hollie Doyle achieved her 1000th career victory. She is only the second woman in history after Hayley Turner to reach this prestigious milestone. She will be 29 years old on 11 October, but she is already a star in the European horse racing firmament. She made her racing debut in May 2013 and in 2014 she was a pupil of Richard Hannon. It was as a pupil that she won her first Listed race in 2017, but the British jockey has achieved many other successes. In 2019 she set the record for the most wins by a female jockey in a year with 119 successes. She came third in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2020 and was also named Sportswoman of the Year by the Sunday Times. In 2022 she became the first female jockey to win a French classic (Prix de Diane) and was also the first woman to win a race on Ascot's Champions Day.

Interviewed by Sky Sports Racing she said: ‘It's crazy, I find it hard to believe some of the things I've achieved, but I want to continue...’
