OBSTACLES
The gallop also includes this discipline in which jumps of different natures are alternated with the flat gallop. The distances to be covered range from 3,000 up to 6,000 meters.
Steeplechase races are of three types based on the obstacles to be overcome: steeplechase, steeple-chase, and cross country.
in hedge races the obstacles are all the same, with a minimum height of 110 cm from the ground and made so that they can be partly crossed by the horses. Hedges can be artificial or "green", that is, made with plant essences;
in steeple, chase races the obstacles are of different heights and depths and are "green", made of materials other than plant-based and there may be water obstacles (the riviera) or double ones;
in cross-country races, mixed country routes are simulated (tree trunks, dry stone walls, small bodies of water) which also deviate from the classic racecourse route.
